Sometimes what we think can be expressed in words—writing or spoken. Sometimes that is difficult. Sometimes what we think can be expressed by drawing or painting or sculpting. That can be difficult too. But Art has a different impact on us than words—it is somehow more direct. And doing Art in whatever way we choose can express our thoughts in ways that words would struggle to achieve. Art does not have to be a ‘work of art’.
I have drawn and doodled and pressed a pencil against paper for most of my life. Looking over the product of some of this can allow me to see what I have thought at different times, realised at different times under different circumstances, in different ways, and with different outcomes. It can be a useful and rewarding vehicle for our thoughts and a meaningful philosophical experience.
See a selection of these outcomes here set to music composed and played by Sarah Rochelle.
