The most effective ‘Practical Philosophy’ is undertaken when not acting as a philosopher or drawing explicitly on philosophy and its terms of reference. I would call the philosophy involved here ‘latent philosophy’—it burns within like a flame, it brings light, but it does not burden or dazzle with its presence. And so Exchanging the Word is clear and bright and informed, but it is not sidetracked by directions outside the interest at hand.
